What is a lien? A lien is a claim against property that FKmay be used to repay a debt.  If you sell property that has a lien against it, the lien must be repaid before you get any money from the sale. Can the Department of Social Services (DSS) force me to put lien on my home before I can get public assistance?

Public Assistance and Work Requirements
Do I have to participate in Public Assistance work activities or a Work Experience Program (WEP)?  When you apply for or receive Public Assistance, unless the Department of Social Services (DSS) says that you are exempt (not able to work), you must participate in work activities as assigned. Work activities will sometimes include educational activities.Who is exempt from participating in Public Assistance work activities? The following is a list of ways that people can be exempt from Public Assistance work activities:

Tenga cuidado de pagar su alquiler con giros postales
La forma en que paga el alquiler puede ser muy importante. Si bien los giros postales parecen convenientes, pueden causarle muchos problemas y, en algunos casos, pueden provocar su desalojo. No se puede cobrar un giro postal si hay un error mínimo, como una fecha incorrecta o una escritura ilegible. Debe escribir su nombre y el(los) mes(es) que está pagando en el giro postal real. Siempre debe guardar una copia de su orden de pago real.

En nuestra experiencia en LawNY®, los inquilinos a veces nos llaman porque son desalojados por no pagar el alquiler, a pesar de que trabajaban para el propietario. A veces, el trabajo consiste en limpiar un apartamento que el antiguo inquilino dejó sucio y, a veces, el trabajo implica reparaciones menores de plomería o reparar un agujero en la pared. Pero, a veces, el trabajo implica mucho tiempo y gastos por parte del inquilino.
