Thanks to our Monroe County NOEP Team!

In March of 2017, over 100,000 people in Monroe County lost power for multiple days (and in some cases almost a week) due to a wind storm. Without power, many households lost hundreds of dollars in spoiled food purchased using their SNAP benefits. Our staff members made it their mission to spread the word on how to apply for SNAP replacement so that spoiled food could be replaced during the crisis and in the aftermath.

Our office assisted over 350 community members apply for replacement SNAP benefits in a matter of 3 weeks. Staff members in several departments of our office assisted with this process. Thanks to our Rochester Office NOEP coordinators, Sue Segelman and Pamela Johnson for their relentless work advocating for populations in crisis.
