Independent Consumer Advocacy Network (ICAN)

LawNY® is part of the Independent Consumer Advocacy Network (ICAN). We have an ICAN advocate who can assist individuals and their families enroll in and use managed care plans that cover long term care services. This includes home care services. We can answer questions, give you information and advice, and try to solve your problems using negotiation and formal appeal processes.
Our ICAN advocate may be able to help you if:

• You need help with your daily activities (such as bathing, dressing, walking, chores); and
• You have Medicaid or qualify for Medicaid; and
• You are enrolled in (or need help joining) a Managed Long Term Care plan or Medicaid Managed Care plan.

Our Expert Health Counselor can assist residents of the following counties:
Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Wayne, and Yates.

ICAN is a program of the Community Service Society, funded by the State of New York.
