VLSP's Mission

To improve the quality of life of low income residents of Monroe County by ensuring the existence of a readily available panel of skilled volunteer attorneys to resolve serious legal problems.

VLSP was formed in 1981 to mobilize private attorneys in the greater Rochester region to provide pro bono legal services to our community's poor. In the summer of 1981, seventy-five attorneys joined as charter members of VLSP's volunteer panel. Two decades later, the pro bono panel has more than 900 attorney and paralegal members who provide a wide array of civil legal help to low income clients.

About LawNY

LawNY is a non-profit law firm that provides free legal aid to people who live in 14 counties in western New York.

LawNY offices may be able to help you with problems such as welfare terminations, divorces, evictions, SSI denials, or other problems if you live in one of these counties we cover.

Because our funding is limited, we can't help everyone who wants a lawyer. For more information, click here.
