Our Services Change - Call Our OfficeThe only way to be sure about whether LAFL can help you is to call our office at 315-781-1465. Because our funding is limited, LAFL is always seeking new grants to fund our services to low-income people. Sometimes, we get new grants that allow us to offer new services. Sometimes, grants end that paid for us to do special kinds of legal work. Housing:If you are homeless now, or facing an eviction or foreclosure, you may be eligible for free legal advice and services through our office. These services include, but are not limited to, advice on possible defenses you may have in your eviction, representation at court, any further claims you may have against your landlord or mortgage company, as well as assistance working with the Department of Social Services to help you procure stable housing. SSI:If your application for SSI was denied or if SSA has notified you that your SSI will stop because you are no longer considered disabled our office may be able to assist you in appealing your decision. Food Stamps:If you would like help applying for food stamps, and you live in Wayne County, our office provides a Nutrition Outreach program that may be able to help. Elder Law:If you are elderly, reside in Ontario, Seneca, Wayne and Yates Counties, and you are in need of legal services our office may be able to assist you.    * Please note that prospective clients generally must have a referral from the County Office for the Aging. Domestic Violence:If you are a survivor of domestic violence and reside in Livingston, Ontario or Seneca County you may be eligible for services through our office. Pro Se Divorce Clinics:If you would like to pursue divorce proceedings, and you live in Livingston, Ontario, Seneca or Yates Counties this program gives you an hour counsult with an attorney, after which you fill out and file the divorce papers yourself.     * Please note that paternity, support, custody, and visitation must usually be resolved in Family Court before we make a clinic appointment for you
